Why We Rebuilt Skykit.com From The Ground Up

Why We Rebuilt Skykit.com From The Ground Up

Today we're launching a completely redesigned skykit.com, and I wanted to take a moment to share the thinking behind it. Not just the what, but the why.

The short version: Skykit outgrew its website. The longer version is a story about a company that evolved faster than the words we used to describe it.

The Gap We Couldn't Ignore

Our last major website refresh was in 2021. At the time, it served us well. But over the past four years, Skykit has changed in ways that our old site simply couldn't communicate.

We went from being a digital signage platform to being the infrastructure layer that Fortune 500 companies rely on to manage 10,000+ screens with enterprise-grade security.

We added real-time dashboard connections that put live BI data on factory floors and trading desks.

We built a revenue engine that helps ad networks and retail media operators monetize their screen inventory with 99.99% playback uptime.

We deepened our hardware stack to control every layer from firmware to cloud.

None of that was reflected in what visitors saw when they landed on skykit.com.

The gap between who we are and what our website said about us had become a problem we couldn't afford to ignore any longer.

Three Audiences, One Platform

Here's the challenge that made this redesign genuinely difficult: Skykit serves three distinct audiences with fundamentally different needs, and they all arrive at the same front door.

1. There's the communications buyer who needs to keep employees informed across 14 locations, deliver safety alerts in real time, and manage content without calling IT.

2. There's the operations leader who wants live KPIs, production dashboards, and Tableau integrations displayed where frontline teams actually make decisions.

3. And there's the media operator running a programmatic ad network across hundreds of screens who needs proof-of-play reporting and Vistar certification.

Same platform. Completely different conversations.

Our old site tried to be everything to everyone and ended up being unclear to all of them. The new site lets each audience find their path immediately. You'll see it right on the homepage: communicate, visualize, monetize. Three entry points, one platform underneath.

Telling a Complicated Story Without Being Complicated

This was the creative challenge that kept us up at night throughout this process. Skykit is a sophisticated platform. We control the full stack: hardware, firmware, edge software, cloud. We're SOC 2 Type 2 compliant with firmware-level security lockdowns. We integrate with over 60 dashboard tools. We support programmatic DOOH. We manage device fleets remotely at scale.

That's a lot to say. And the temptation is always to say all of it, everywhere, all at once.

We resisted that temptation. The new site is built around a simple principle: show people the outcome they care about first, then let them go deeper when they're ready. We don't lead with our architecture. We lead with what that architecture makes possible for the person reading the page.

If you're a retail operator worried about screen uptime, you'll find your answer without wading through our firmware security documentation. If you're a CISO evaluating our stack, that documentation is there — but it's not blocking the path for everyone else.

Why It Took Eight Months

We started this project in the fall of 2025, and I'll be honest...it took longer than I expected. Partly because we were building it alongside everything else (we didn't stop shipping product to redesign a website). But mostly because getting the story right required us to get clear on who we are today, not who we were in 2021.

That clarity doesn't come from a design agency. It comes from hard internal conversations about positioning, about which customers we serve best, about what makes us genuinely different in a market full of digital signage vendors who all claim to be enterprise-ready.

We had to earn the right to call ourselves a platform. We had to prove  (to ourselves first) that our three solution areas aren't just marketing categories but reflect real, distinct value we deliver to real, distinct buyers.

The website is the output of that work. But the work itself was strategic, not cosmetic.

What You'll Find

The new skykit.com is organized around how our customers actually think about their problems:

→ If you need to communicate: You'll find content management, multi-location scheduling, template libraries, and emergency alerting. Simple tools that anyone can use without training.

→ If you need to visualize data: You'll find our dashboard connections, which integrate with tools like Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, and Datadog, plus customizable display layouts that put the right metrics in front of the right teams.

→ If you need to generate revenue: You'll find our ad network platform, proof-of-play reporting, programmatic DOOH integration, and the campaign analytics that media operators need to sell and prove inventory.

And underneath all three: the platform itself. Proprietary hardware. Enterprise security. Remote device management. The infrastructure that makes everything above reliable at scale.

Looking Forward

A website launch isn't an ending. It's a stake in the ground that says: this is who we are right now.

And right now, Skykit is a company that believes digital signage has outgrown the "just screens" label. We believe it's enterprise infrastructure — expected to drive revenue, deliver real-time intelligence, and scale securely. That's the story our new site tells, and it's the standard we hold ourselves to every day.

I'm proud of what our team built here. Take a look around. And if you want to talk about what Skykit can do for your organization, we're ready.
